We know many of you will be heading out to Anaheim for some Disney and for some ALA! The UNCG LIS Department is having its shindig at the Cooperative Library and Information Studies Alumni Reunion on Sunday, June 24, 2012, 5.30 pm – 7.30 pm in the Disneyland Hotel, Magic Kingdom Ballroom. Look for Minerva (and maybe Minnie). If you can’t make the event, then stop by the ALISE/LIS Education Cooperative Booth in the Exhibits. Lynda will be giving out QR Code stickers for your nametag, so make sure you get one at the conference. They are the hottest things ever!

UNCG LIS will join ALISE and several of its member schools in hosting a booth in the Library and Information Science Education Pavilion in the exhibit hall. The exhibits will be held June 24-27, 2011 at the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center located at 900 Convention Center Blvd, New Orleans, LA.

ALA Round-up! YEEEEEHAW!
ALA Annual is right around the corner. To share some of our experiences the LIS Alumni Association will host its first ALA Round-Up, a virtual meet and greet, on July 9 from 12pm-1pm. We will be joined by Kathy Shields, the Head of Reference and Instruction at High Point University, and Amy Pace, Lead Librarian at High Point University’s University Center. Both ladies will be working for Cognotes, the ALA conference newspaper, and will have many experience to share. We will have time for questions and comments. If you are going to ALA and would like to be on the agenda to talk about the highlights of your ALA 2010 experience, please contact Lynda Kellam by July 1.

Technical requirements: We will be using a collaborative software called Elluminate. It requires that you be able to download Java onto your computer, but you do not need any special software. After you RSVP, we will send you a link that you can use to test the software. If you have any questions, please contact Lynda. You do not need a microphone as a chat system is available in the software. You may want to use a headset depending on your desk configuration.
