Greetings from the Executive Board

Greetings from the Executive Board of LISAA!  We are looking forward to an exciting year.  The board is busy making plans for some great things…more about that in a moment.  Before I get to that, here are the members of the board for 2010-2011:

Randall Bowman, President

 Jeff Stabnau, returning as Treasurer

Jennifer Smith, returning as Secretary

Lynda Kellam, returning as Communications Director

Kathy Shields, returning as Asst. Communications Director

Mac Nelson, Past-President

Sandra Andrews, Faculty Liaison

For more information and contact information for each member, see our page at http://lis.uncg.edu/people/lisaa/executive-board/

Some of the activities that are in the works for this year are: another virtual “Meet and Greet”, as well as real-life networking events.  And of course there will also be the Alumni Luncheon on Saturday, April 16, 2011 in the Virginia Dare room of the Alumni House.  Stay tuned for more updates on these and other events!

We will also be updating our Facebook page regularly…look for some photos soon from the 2010 Alumni Luncheon, held back on May 1st.  We had a really great speaker, Dr. David Cecelski, deliver the Cora Paul Bomar lecture.  Dr. Cecelski had everyone paying rapt attention as he told the story of his international journey through libraries and archives to research his upcoming book on Abraham Galloway, a former slave and resistance leader in North Carolina during the Civil War.

We’ll also have our Alumni Profiles in this space, as well as lots of other features.  Please feel free to do an Alumni Update when you have any new event–promotion, new job, marriage, new baby–your classmates and fellow alumni would love to hear what’s going on with you.

If you have any thoughts, questions, or suggestions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with me.  My email is rbowman@elon.edu.  Also, if you’re interested in volunteering with the Association, let me know, and I’ll be happy to discuss that with you.

 Stay tuned!

 Regards,

 Randall Bowman, ’97
